In honor of the spooky season, Dream Con is highlighting a few of these talented individuals whose voices have haunted and moved us in some of the most iconic horror games.

RDCWorld’s Dream Con is approaching its seventh anniversary! What started as a small gathering of enthusiasts and artists in 2018 has grown into a significant convention scheduled to happen in Houston, Texas, one of the largest cities in the U.S. in 2025. The convention has grown over the years from a modest event in Waco to one of the most expected conventions in pop culture. The success of Dream Con moving to George R. Brown Convention Center confirms its powerful presence in the fandom convention industry.

This World Mental Health Day (Oct 10), it’s imperative to recognize not only the importance of mental health but also the amazing strides Black people have made advocating for it. Here are a few examples of how Black voices in tech, gaming, entertainment, and content creation are leading the charge in fostering a supportive environment for positive mental health.

At Dream Con, we’re all about celebrating the intersection of gaming, anime, and culture — and there’s no better day to do that than World Gaming Day on September 12th! This global celebration is a chance to honor the passion and community that gaming brings to millions of people around the world.

Solo is joined by fellow actor Nadji Jeter, the voice behind Miles Morales in Insomniac's Spider-Man franchise for PS5, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, and the 2017 animated Spider-Man series on Disney XD, and Carl Jones who played the infamous Thugnificent in the groundbreaking animated series, The Boondocks, and later co-launched his own animation studio, Martian Blueberry.

This year, Dream Con celebrates Black characters across the wide spectrum of anime, video games, comics, and more by having an art appreciation social media movement! Participants can express originality and creativity by sharing their own artwork for a chance to win tickets to Dream Con 2024. Don’t worry – artwork submissions can be original characters, fan art, new and or previous artwork. This is a fun way to share, appreciate, and highlight artists!

February has always been the signal to kick off Black History Month. Twenty-eight days of recognition for Black individuals whose contributions to society have proven invaluable to the present day. From the traffic signal to the folding chair, we have never stopped to take a seat to provide and ensure safe spaces for Black communities.

We’re here to give Black creatives in the animation industry their flowers. So many moving pieces contribute to a successful animated show or movie. This month, Dream Con wants to highlight the Black creatives thriving in the animation industry and beyond.
