Blog

This month, we’re highlighting the individuals paving the way for women in the technology industry!

Kamilah Taylor

Kamilah Taylor is currently the Head of Financial Products Engineering at Gusto. She has an impressive engineering background, with experience in areas such as fintech and robotics. Her work in the industry has not gone unnoticed; in 2017, Business Insider recognized her as one of the 43 Most Powerful Women in Tech, and more recently, she was listed as one of Essence’s 10 Black Women Rocking the Tech World (2018).

Taylor is passionate about increasing women’s representation in STEM fields, co-authoring books like Women in Tech, which shares inspiring stories of women who have navigated careers in the industry. She has also partnered with organizations like BlackGirlsCode to help mentor and support young female technologists.

She is a known global thought leader in innovation and STEM education, using her platform to equip young students with STEM skills both at home and abroad. She was also named STEM for Her’s Woman of the Year (2024).

Bowe’s success has not only broken barriers on earth, but also in space! In Spring 2025, she will be one of six other women selected to fly on the Blue Origin New Shepherd’s 11th human flight—the first all-female flight crew since Valentina Tereshkova’s solo spaceflight in 1963. Notably, Bowe will also be making history as the first Black woman astronaut
