Logistics

The Logistics and Operations Department is tasked with the organization and execution of Dream Con’s overall operations. This department oversees many aspects of the event including but not limited to site planning, budgets, communications, production, vendor management, event staffing, internal and external production needs, facilities, food and beverage, and security. The Logistics and Operations Department consists of the following teams: Food & Beverage, Exhibit, Production, and Security.  manage many aspects of events and programs including but not limited 

Responsibilities:

Food & Beverage
  • Communicate with venue regarding attendee food and beverage options
  • Plan, forecast and execute food and beverage orders
  • Check food and beverage supplies and place orders during convention when needed
  • Plan alternative recipes for guests with special dietary needs
  • Research and review food vendor applications 
  • Submit food and beverage needs to venues 
Exhibit
  • Plan exhibition hall layouts and activities/demonstrations
  • Research and review all vendor and artist applications
  • Sell exhibition space to potential vendors and artists
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors, overseeing the exhibition set-up by contractors
  • Answer all vendor and artist questions and concerns 
Production
  • Plan and organize production schedules
  • Coordinate all backstage logistics for shows
  • Oversee set up of audio visual equipment and backstage at events
  • Communicate with venue or 3rd party production teams 
  • Develop Run of Show and provide to production teams
  • Monitor and support all back of the house areas
Security
  • Contact security vendors for quotes 
  • Create security plan and submit to venue 
  • Assist with event line control, attendee traffic flow, and security throughout the Austin Convention Center and Hilton hotel
  • Coordinate and communicate with the Programming & Guests Relations Departments to manage Guest-led Main Stage Events 
  • Answer attendee inquiries onsite during the convention

Requirements:

  • Great critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and wear multiple hats
  • Knowledge in general event management 
  • Willingness to learn and handle multiple responsibilities
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively, independently and in a team environment
  • Relevant experience in relevant areas such as: Logistics, Security, and Production
  • Food & Beverage or Security certification (Preferred not required)  
  • Degree in Business Administration or related field (Preferred not required)
